It is estimated that £700 million pounds worth of Gift Aid goes unclaimed each year in the UK, according to the Charities Aid Foundation. The South Wales Gift Aid Project (SWAGA) aims to educate and assist fundraisers in claiming their fair share.

How will the SWAGA project improve the situation in Wales?

(1) By conducting a series of educational seminars to help Wales based fundraisers improve their undestanding of the claims process. The Association of Community Interest Fundraisers (ACIF) seminars will be run in conjunction with a variety of fundraising organisations and groups, beginning in Cardiff on June 22nd.

(2) By making available to all fundraisers a free online donation service so that fundraising campaigns can be spread further afield, be effective for longer and be more creative on a local basis than is usually the case.

(3) By the launching a Commercial Business Partnership Scheme and a Gift Aid Loyalty Card for charity supporters, which is linked to the online Gift Aid donation and accounting service provided by GiftAid-iT.
